Frequently asked questions
Practical answers about booking, preparing for surgery, hospital stay, recovery and insurance. Questions about a specific procedure are answered on that treatment's own page.
Appointments & consultation
You can call or WhatsApp the clinic directly on the number listed on this site, or use the appointment form on the contact page. OPD consultations run Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The hospital itself is open 24 hours for emergencies and admissions — for anything urgent, call rather than using the form.
Yes. Book an online consultation via WhatsApp, Monday to Saturday, 10 AM–2 PM and 5 PM–8 PM, the same hours as OPD. The clinic will confirm your slot and how to join. An in-person examination may still be needed; use emergency care for urgent symptoms.
Bring any previous reports relating to your problem — ultrasound, CT or MRI films and reports, endoscopy or colonoscopy reports, blood tests, and any earlier operation notes or discharge summaries. Also bring a written list of every medication you take, including blood thinners, diabetes medication and supplements, and your insurance card if you have one.
No. You can book directly. If you have been referred by a physician or another specialist, bring their letter, as it usually contains useful background.
English, Hindi and Gujarati. Please say if you would prefer the explanation in a particular language — it is easier to make good decisions when the discussion is in the language you think in.
Yes, and it is welcomed. Bring all your reports and, if you have one, the plan that has been proposed elsewhere. You will get an honest assessment, including when the plan you already have is a good one.
Before & after surgery
Not necessarily. A significant proportion of patients who come to a surgical clinic are advised on non-surgical management, or told that their condition can safely be watched. Surgery is recommended when it will genuinely improve your situation, not simply because it is available.
Typically a full blood count, blood sugar, kidney and liver function, clotting profile, an ECG, and a chest X-ray where indicated, along with any imaging specific to your condition. You will also be assessed by an anaesthetist. These are usually arranged a few days before the date.
It depends entirely on the procedure. Laser proctology and ZSR circumcision are day-care — you go home the same day. Laparoscopic gallbladder and hernia surgery is usually day care to one night. Bowel resections require two to six days. You will be given a specific expectation for your procedure.
Modern anaesthesia is very safe, and the risks are lower than most patients assume. That said, safety depends on proper assessment — which is why heart, lung, kidney and diabetic status are all checked beforehand, and why you should disclose every medication, allergy and previous anaesthetic reaction.
For day-care laser procedures, usually two to four days. For laparoscopic hernia, gallbladder or appendix surgery, five to seven days for desk work. For bowel surgery, three to four weeks. Physically demanding work always needs longer, and you will be given a timeline based on what you actually do rather than a generic figure.
You will be given a contact number at discharge along with written instructions on what is normal and what is not. Call rather than wait if you develop fever, increasing pain, bleeding, or anything the discharge sheet lists as a warning sign. It is always easier to deal with a problem early.
Cost & insurance
All major insurances are accepted at Dynamic Surgical Hospital, Ahmedabad. Coverage and cashless approval depend on your policy and the planned treatment. Please share your insurance details with the hospital team to confirm eligibility before admission.
Most of the procedures performed here — hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, appendectomy, piles, fissure, fistula and pilonidal sinus surgery, and bowel surgery — are standard covered procedures under Indian health insurance policies, subject to your waiting period and policy terms. The clinic team assists with pre-authorisation and cashless paperwork.
Circumcision performed for a medical indication — pathological phimosis, recurrent balanitis, BXO or recurrent paraphimosis — is generally covered. Circumcision done for religious or personal preference is usually not.
The procedure itself, the surgical technique used, consumables such as mesh, staplers or laser fibres, the type of anaesthesia, your room category, length of stay, pre-operative investigations, and follow-up. You will be given an estimate before admission rather than after.
Cashless treatment is available with the major insurers and TPAs empanelled at Dynamic Surgical Hospital, Ahmedabad. Please bring your policy details at the time of consultation so pre-authorisation can be started early — it takes time and is best not left to the day of admission.
