What Dr. Ankur Patel treats
Explore hernia and gallbladder surgery, treatment for piles, fissures and fistulas, and ZSR circumcision.
Hernia Surgery
A hernia will not heal on its own. Modern laparoscopic mesh repair fixes the weakness through three small cuts, with most patients home the same or next day.
Read moreGallbladder Surgery
Gallstones cause pain in the right upper abdomen after fatty meals. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy removes the gallbladder through four small cuts, and most patients go home the next morning.
Read morePiles Treatment
Piles cause painless bleeding and a lump at the anus. Laser haemorrhoidoplasty seals the swollen vessels without cutting, so most patients go home the same day and return to work within days.
Read moreFissure Treatment
An anal fissure is a small tear in the anal lining that causes severe pain during and after passing stool. Most heal with medication; chronic fissures are cured by a short day-care procedure.

A fistula is an abnormal tunnel from an infected anal gland to the skin, causing recurring discharge and swelling. Modern laser and VAAFT techniques close it while protecting bowel control.
Read moreZSR Circumcision
ZSR stapler circumcision removes the foreskin and seals the edge in a single step — no stitches, minimal bleeding, a 15-minute procedure and a return to work within days.

15+ years of minimally invasive surgery
Dr. Ankur Patel is an advanced laparoscopic, robotic and gastrointestinal surgeon based at Dynamic Surgical Hospital, Ahmedabad. With 15+ years in practice, he has built his work around a single idea: that most abdominal operations can be done through a few small incisions, with less pain, a shorter hospital stay and a faster return to ordinary life.
His training includes FMAS at Zen Hospital, DIPMAS at GEM Hospital, colorectal minimally invasive surgery training in Singapore, robotic surgery fellowship training in the USA, FACRSI, and advanced IAGES fellowships in bariatric, upper gastrointestinal and hernia surgery.
Day to day, his practice is largely hernia repair — inguinal, umbilical, incisional, hiatal and recurrent — alongside laparoscopic gallbladder and appendix surgery, laser and stapler treatment for piles, and elective colorectal and gastrointestinal procedures. Complex and recurrent hernias, in particular, are referred to him from across Gujarat.

Straight answers, and surgery only when it helps
A consultation should leave you understanding your own condition well enough to make a decision about it.
Surgery only when it is genuinely needed
Not every hernia, gallstone or pile needs an operation today. Every consultation starts with an honest assessment of whether surgery will actually improve your life, and what happens if you wait.
The smallest safe incision
Laparoscopic and laser techniques are used wherever they are the right choice — not as a selling point, but because less tissue damage means less pain, lower infection risk and a quicker return to work.
You should understand your own operation
Diagnosis, options, risks, costs and recovery are explained without jargon and in your own language, with time for questions, before you decide anything.
Care does not end at discharge
Written recovery instructions, a direct line for concerns, and structured follow-up are part of every procedure, not an optional extra.

More on appointments, preparation, costs and insurance.
You can call or WhatsApp the clinic directly on the number listed on this site, or use the appointment form on the contact page. OPD consultations run Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The hospital itself is open 24 hours for emergencies and admissions — for anything urgent, call rather than using the form.
Yes. Book an online consultation via WhatsApp, Monday to Saturday, 10 AM–2 PM and 5 PM–8 PM, the same hours as OPD. The clinic will confirm your slot and how to join. An in-person examination may still be needed; use emergency care for urgent symptoms.
Bring any previous reports relating to your problem — ultrasound, CT or MRI films and reports, endoscopy or colonoscopy reports, blood tests, and any earlier operation notes or discharge summaries. Also bring a written list of every medication you take, including blood thinners, diabetes medication and supplements, and your insurance card if you have one.
Not necessarily. A significant proportion of patients who come to a surgical clinic are advised on non-surgical management, or told that their condition can safely be watched. Surgery is recommended when it will genuinely improve your situation, not simply because it is available.
Typically a full blood count, blood sugar, kidney and liver function, clotting profile, an ECG, and a chest X-ray where indicated, along with any imaging specific to your condition. You will also be assessed by an anaesthetist. These are usually arranged a few days before the date.
It depends entirely on the procedure. Laser proctology and ZSR circumcision are day-care — you go home the same day. Laparoscopic gallbladder and hernia surgery is usually day care to one night. Bowel resections require two to six days. You will be given a specific expectation for your procedure.
